Advantage completes Phase I of repairs of tie-down systems on Veteran’s Memorial Cable Stay Bridge.
Advantage to repair the tie down systems for the emergency repairs of the SR22 Veteran’s Memorial Cable Stay Bridge located in Weirton, West Virginia. The work is technical in nature and requires careful planning and execution. The scope of the project includes the replacement of the existing deck tie-down system that prevents the Weirton side of the bridge from tension failure. The existing tie-down links will be replaced with 2 new tie-down systems. One system is a Post-Tensioned cable Assembly that will be installed around the existing links. The second system which is the final load bearing system will be installed at the termination of the existing edge girders. Both systems will remain in place once completed with the work and the original tie-down links will be removed. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2009.
