Kerr Dam Spillway Stabilization

Kerr Dam Spillway Stabilization
Advantage Steel & Construction was contracted by Brayman Construction Corporation to fabricate a temporary access platform for the Kerr Dam Spillway stabilization project. The temporary access platform stretched from the north training wall to the power house and was 824-feet long by 36-feet wide.
Brayman requested the platform because the site posed several logistical challenges. Construction activities could not interfere with the dam’s outflow needs for pool control and power generation. Further, fluctuations in tailwater elevation of ten feet or more per day are not uncommon, and the new post-tensioned anchors needed to be installed 20 feet above the normal tailwater elevation. Taken together, options of working from a floating platform or on barges were eliminated.
Thanks to Advantage’s work, the Brayman team was able to complete the project on an accelerated timeline.
